Just as it is possible to do on a computer, Android mobile devices can be restarted in "Safe" mode (or secure mode). A procedure that can be very useful during a crash or in case of malfunction of an application. And if you suspect the presence of malware, this mode will allow you, if your device is not ROOTE, to prevent it from loading at startup.

Unfortunately, each manufacturer has its own method of restarting in safe mode. To agree on a single method for all mobile devices running Android would however have been easier for users ...

This example explains the procedure to restart a secure mode on Samsung Galaxy Alpha .Additional methods for other types of devices, are available at end of article. Do not hesitate to share yours depending on the model of your Smartphone / Tablet, it will be added in the article and can be of service to the community.

Step 1: Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S4 completely by doing a long press on the button "On / Off".

Step 2: Reboot your Samsung Galaxy Alpha  and begin tapping, fast enough and repeatedly touch on the "Menu" button (located on the left button of the physical "Home"). That is until you can see your screen displaying idenfication "Safe Mode" on the bottom left. Take your troubles patiently ...

Step 3: From this moment you reach your Android desktop, which will then display more than the default applications available (Google applications and those of the manufacturer of your mobile device). Rest assured, the others are still present but does will simply not loaded.

Step 4: You will then direct you in your Application Manager, from where it will be possible to quickly and easily get rid of the application that gives you trouble.

Step 5: Once you've finished cleaning, open your notification area and select the one you are indicating that you are in secure mode. Then restart your mobile device.

List (not exhaustive) of the different methods restart in safe mode.

- Hold down the On / Off button until a menu is displayed. 
- Press and hold your finger on the "Turn off". 
- Select "Safe Mode" which should s' display.

Or

- Hold down the On / Off button until a menu is displayed. 
- Press and hold your finger on the "Restart". 
- Select the "Safe Mode" option that should s' display.

Or

- Turn off your mobile device. 
- Restart it while holding down the "Volume Down". 
- Secure mode should appear at the bottom left of your screen.

Or

- Turn off your mobile device. 
- Restart it while holding down the "Volume Up" button. 
- The secure mode should appear at the bottom left of your screen.

Or

- Turn off your mobile device. 
- Restart it while holding down the buttons "Volume Up and Volume Down." 
- The secure mode should appear at the bottom left of your screen.
